Mrinaljyoti Rehabilitation Centre as an organization started with the goal to endeavor for the care and welfare of the mentally and physically challenged persons/children in a healthy and amicable surrounding. Having the knowledge about Inclusiveness and it significance the school drew approval for elementary education under the Directorate of Elementary Education, Government of Assam. Therefore the Special Education system got introduced the same year which marked the establishment of the organization i.e. 1999. The Inclusive system of education was made a part of the organization in the year 2016.
Thus, the school managed by Mrinaljyoti has two composition, they are Special Education and Inclusive Education. The school is governed by a School Management Committee (SMC) as per the School Management Scheme which was constituted according to the Section 12, of Assam Non-government Educational Institution (regulation & management) Act 2006 and rules 2007’. The UDISE Code of the school is 18150610806.
Mrinaljyoti believes Intelligence and other human capacities are not fixed at birth, but they are rather shaped to some extent by environmental influences and through learning. To achieve the vision and the mission Mrinaljyoti has professed, the Early Intervention Unit is the fundamental functioning of the Rehabilitation Centre in attaining heights of success .
It has been proven that early intervention is the best intervention and early rehabilitation is the best rehabilitation. From the past few years Mrinaljyoti Rehabilitation Centre is persevering to identify and detect children with disabilities at an early age, so that we can provide them with necessary interventions to mainstreaming in society.
Our early intervention services include early detection, physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, counseling, school readiness program, etc. We have been closely monitoring the children who have been already mainstreamed & are keeping an eye on their development for their good performance to the greatest level. Mrinaljyoti has newly included another important service i.e. Hydrotherapy Equipment which will be activated very soon and it will give a new standard to the EI centre.
One of the methods of achieving inclusion in education as well as in the mainstream society relate to making the environment and services accessible to individual adjustment so that the person with a disability can complete a task, participate in an activity, learn life skills or access a building fully, regardless of their impairment to the greatest extent possible.
Having had the knowledge about inclusiveness and its significance, Mrinaljyoti imparts livelihood trainings to persons with disabilities through Vocational Training Center section that has been providing various vocational training to them through vocational class. Various initiatives and steps were taken to rejuvenate the vocational center of Mrinaljyoti. In the process the vocational center got named as “PUSHPDALUM”, ‘Pusph’ meaning flower and ‘dalum’ meaning petals. Pushpdalum is an employment opportunity offered for the PwDs of age 15 years and above. It caters to Children who cannot complete their formal education but are capable of doing work independently and with dignity within the school campus. The project Pushpdalum includes an inevitable part called “GRIHA”. The ‘Griha’ is a crucial part of the project which produces food items and is sent to markets as well. The project Griha was launched on 11.9.2019 by Sri. Rameswar Teli, MOS, Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India.
To professionalize the vocational activities of Mrinaljyoti project ‘PARIJAT’ was started under the flagship of Oil India Limited, Duliajan.
